SUMMARY:Come learn Kinusaiga with us! Registration required\, 12 and older only.
DESCRIPTION:Come learn the art of kinusaiga (Japanese no sew fabric art) with us! There is no teacher for this class – instead\, expect a group of people united by a desire to figure this craft out together! Librarian Jill has completed a few projects\, though\, so she sure knows a bunch of things not to do!\n\nIn kinusaiga\, a pattern is drawn onto foam board and then scored. Fabric scraps are then placed over the sections and the edges tucked in\, creating the look of stained glass with fabric! This is a great craft for using up fabric scraps.\n\nThe library will supply foam board and adhesive (for a smoother look)\, as well as some fabric scraps. Please bring a seam ripper or letter opener\, fabric scissors\, utility knife\, a simple stained glass pattern and fabric scraps with you.\n\nThere is no fee for the class\, but preregistration is required as class size is limited to 12. Participants must be 12 or older.

SUMMARY:An Evening with Maine Author Beverly D. Knowles
DESCRIPTION:The 2026 Ann B. McGowan Maine Writers Series and the Pittsfield Public Library are proud to present an evening with local Maine novelist Beverly D. Knowles. Beverly is the author of Echoes from Deane Mountain and Threads of Deception\, the first two books in a planned trilogy following one family’s fictionalized history in Temple\, Maine.\n\nShe writes: “Into woods on a windy day\, I walked. A visit to the ancestral graveyards was my destination. Recalling the generational stories\, the memories as I stood upon the Deane Homestead\, the land\, buildings\, orchard overcome by time and by nature. The only evidence of a neighborhood that once flourished near Varnum Pond in Temple\, Maine were the stones; gravestones and crumbling stone walls.\n\nInspired by the swaying branches\, by our family roots deeply planted on this land\, the ancestors of the Deane family must not be lost in time\, but remembered. In Echoes from Deane Mountain\, the reader follows Jennie’s story\, a journey back to thisland\, back to the place of childhood\, her troubled heart seeking.\n\nInspiration builds and may be found in the writing of a first book\, as it was for the creation of the second\, Threads of Deception—Elizabeth’s story\, a story of Aroostook County. To complete the trilogy: Simon’s story is a work in progress.”\n\nBeverly will have her books available for sale and signing at the event\, which is free and open to the public. SUMMARY:An Evening with Maine Author Kristen Clanton
DESCRIPTION:The 2026 Ann B. McGowan Maine Writers Series and the Pittsfield Public Library are proud to present an evening with local Maine novelist Kristen Clanton. Kristen teaches humanities at MCI and coaches cheerleading when not writing.\n\nKristen’s debut work is the young adult horror novel The Swallows. Set in the Black Mountain region\, The Swallows explores the town of Fullmouth\, where local mothers have started dying. At first\, the panicked citizens believe the deaths are suicides. Yet fifteen-year-old Pearl is unconvinced. Pearl has known visions her whole life\, known the feeling of when the darkness shifts inside her\, and her power comes to surface.\n\nBut having recently moved to Fullmouth\, the supernatural is suddenly magnified. She now finds herself able to commune with ghosts. She sees visions of how mothers will die. Relying on these powers\, Pearl faces a daunting foe and the responsibility of saving the town.
