DESCRIPTION:The 2026 Ann B. McGowan Maine Writers Series and the Pittsfield Public Library are proud to present an evening with local Maine novelist Beverly D. Knowles. Beverly is the author of Echoes from Deane Mountain and Threads of Deception\, the first two books in a planned trilogy following one family’s fictionalized history in Temple\, Maine.\n\nShe writes: “Into woods on a windy day\, I walked. A visit to the ancestral graveyards was my destination. Recalling the generational stories\, the memories as I stood upon the Deane Homestead\, the land\, buildings\, orchard overcome by time and by nature. The only evidence of a neighborhood that once flourished near Varnum Pond in Temple\, Maine were the stones; gravestones and crumbling stone walls.\n\nInspired by the swaying branches\, by our family roots deeply planted on this land\, the ancestors of the Deane family must not be lost in time\, but remembered. In Echoes from Deane Mountain\, the reader follows Jennie’s story\, a journey back to thisland\, back to the place of childhood\, her troubled heart seeking.\n\nInspiration builds and may be found in the writing of a first book\, as it was for the creation of the second\, Threads of Deception—Elizabeth’s story\, a story of Aroostook County.
