An Evening with Maine Writer Anne Britting Oleson

August 19 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
The 2026 Ann B. McGowan Maine Writers Series and the Pittsfield Public Library are proud to present an evening with local Maine writer Anne Britting Oleson.
Born and raised in the southern part of the state, Anne Britting Oleson is a writer and teacher who now lives and works in Central Maine. She earned an MFA in writing from USM’s Stonecoast program, and has been awarded a Tiffany Farm Writing Residency, two Hewnoaks Artist Residencies, and an Amtrak Residency. Her books include three poetry chapbooks (The Church of St. Materiana, The Beauty of It, and Alley of Dreams) as well as nine novels.
Three of those novels are set in the Maine in which Anne grew up: The Book of the Mandolin Player, Cow Palace, and The Springs. Her other books are mystery/adventure novels which are set in the UK, a place to which she is a constant visitor; these include Dovecote, Tapiser, and the Aventurine Morrow series. All of the novels feature strong central female characters.
Anne has three children, seven grandchildren, and two cats. Writing books is all she’s ever wanted to do.
Anne will have her works available for sale and signing at the event, which is free and open to the public. Come support your local authors!
