The Buccaneers: From Outcasts to Empire in Five Easy Steps

Author and historian,  James L. Nelson, will be at the library to discuss how these half-wild men, refugees from civilized society, evolved from a being a minor thorn in the side of Spain to playing a major part of the geopolitical world of the 17th Century.

Cynthia Anderson

The Library has teamed up with the Newport Cultural Center to bring Maine author, Cynthia Anderson to the area to discuss her latest book, “Home Now.”

This book follows the lives of several Lewiston residents: a single Muslim mom, an anti-Islamist activist, a Congolese asylum seeker, a Somali community leader. Their lives unfold in the pages of “Home Now” as our country’s relationship with race and religion evolve.

Cynthia’s presentation will be at the Newport Cultural Center.
